Feingold Diet
Hyperactivity is so often medicated. What if there was hope apart from sedation? The feingold diet may offer just that. While there are supporters and critics, as with any diet and many treatments, the studies are convincing. The feingold diet for adhd, or attention defecit hyperactive disorder, may be applied under the supervision of a knowledgeable physician or the feingold association. The theory is that by removing certain harmful substances from the diet as recommended by the feingold diet, a person may find relief from adhd or add. The feingold diet was invented by Dr. Feingold. He discovered that certain substances in some fruits can trigger hyperactivity. According to the feingold diet, offending items also include certain preservatives and artificial colors. By removing these things from what is consumed, the hyperactivity is relieved. The fruits may be readmitted into the person’s diet, but the preservatives and colors should remain unconsumed, according to the feingold diet plan for adhd. As should be obvious, the feingold diet is not intended for those people who are overweight. You will not find a feingold weight loss clinic. Since many of those diagnosed with adhd are children, and children are still growing, it would not be safe to encourage weight loss.
The feingold diet is very specific about foods that are allowed and foods that are not allowed. The feingold diet food list of items to eliminate includes berries, apples, oranges, wintergreen and aspirin. These foods, among others, contain the chemical that triggers hyperactivity. To ensure that a child does not suffer from malnutrition, make sure that he or she gets adequate supplemental food from the feigold diet list of foods that are allowed. These include, among other things, pears, lemons, melons and mangoes. There are plenty of options to make sure that the nutritional needs are met.
The feingold diet for adhd is an option available to parents of children who suffer or for adults who suffer themselves. The feingold diet is also a very helpful tool for anyone who would like to eliminate preservatives and artificial ingredients from their diet. So, if you would like to find out more, speak with your doctor or contact the Feingold Association.
