Blood Type Diet
The blood type diet was first introduced in the year 1997. It was the very first time that blood type and diet were connected as being mutually interdependent when ascertaining the best way of loosing weight for an individual. Exploring a diet by blood type is not a new idea. In the 1950s studies were published that identified different blood types as falling into the categories of hunters, gatherers, and so on. Yet for the sake of the blood type diet, it was the first time that an author claimed that one’s success or failure with any given diet could be traced directly to their food intake and their blood type. Take for example the blood type diet for O positive individuals, which – according to the precepts of the blood type diet – are hunters; blood type diet food lists for such individuals include high meat protein offerings in keeping with the thought that such people are generally more muscular and active than others. For blood type A, diet requirements eschew red meat in favor of a mostly vegetarian diet. While critics acknowledge that there is a slight change in susceptibility to various illnesses, the idea of blood type diets as a new way of controlling weight is lacking in hard data. A diet according to blood type has not been found effective simply for the fact that gastrointestinal diseases and ailments occur in individuals of all blood types, and it therefore seems to prove that the caloric intake, and the digestion of food is not impacted by one’s blood type but instead by one’s lifestyle. Some wonder is the blood type diet safe – the answer is not a hard or fast yes or no. Instead, it is important to point that that in order to lose weight – if you are following the diet for an AB blood type – you might be in good shape by varying your diet, while those who follow diets based on blood type O will lack the healthy mix of plant based carbohydrates and will tend to overdo the protein intake, which in turn may lead to heart health issues.
